Up to Jan 1 when it was an extra bonus night credit on a paid stay the loyalty made sense, even then I believe your membership had to affiliated with RC rewards and not Marriott rewards to get the extra night credit.

My wife is staying at an RC this weekend, her card gives her CL access certifies, the Plat gift was either a 1000 points or $25/hotel credit. This was on top of the card's $100 hotel credit. But then this was $160/ night RC stay
