It was a northern lights tour. Cruise ships ply their trade in that part of the world at this time of the year. It wasn't the weather that caused this problem but the engine failure. An engine failure on a cruise ship in the Caribbean during hurricane season could have the same result.

I wouldn't have minded being on that ship. It would be an exciting improvement over the typical cruise tedium and silliness.
