Very unusual for security to take more than 5 minutes IME. The walk to the gate is considerably longer.

My usual practice is to arrive about 1hr 45 before my UA flight. It takes 20 minutes to drop my bag, clear security and reach the lounge. That gives me 45 minutes to eat breakfast in the lounge - and they do a very good one!
