CVS used to sell the temporary Amex Serve cards with no fee before. I've been buying them for years now to get 5x/5% drugstore and then go use those (without registering) for many charges that wouldn't get 5x/5% otherwise. The CVS's that I visit now say $2.95 fee on each, AND when I tried to pay with credit card it was denied. The register said CASH ONLY. When did this change?? Anyone figured out a way around?
This changed last month. Someone claimed that the no CC hardcoding is only for fraud prone locations. But all CVS locations I tried near me are hard coded to not allow this.
