The visa check is actually easier at T3 since in T5 it is another element of Ready to Fly. So you can just do it at the gate in T3. Now we best not encourage that practice since you can imagine 3 agents doing a visa check on a typically full A380 is going to be painful. You could also do it in the BA lounge but not the other lounges.
You may want to consider your planning further in the event you get SSSS.
I am normally keen to do some work in the lounge - on this occasion, a personal commitment has come up which I can't move, hence the concern. If the visa check can be done at the gate, then should be fine. Never had SSSS before, so heres hoping I don't this time, presumably this would be apparent on the BP at T-24. Although sounds like SSSS can lead to conformance problems even if you had checked in at the desk at T-120!
