I note with the current seat sale that only the flight that stops in YVR is listed. I, of course want to get a decent fare for the second ticket (mine for status reasons) and I'm wondering if AC may keep the prices high for the direct flight and I may end up a reward seat on the direct flight and the only good priced economy seat is on the YVR stopover flight. Thoughts?
Are you telling me you and your girlfriend will be sitting in different cabins? It wouldn't surprise me if pricing on the nonstop is higher - or at least fewer of the lowest price fares are available on any given day. That's one of the reasons to launch a nonstop service of this kind - get the competition's best customers to switch because the competition doesn't yet have a year-round nonstop in both directions. Nothing nefarious about it, just supply and demand. If there is anything nefarious, it might be certain ethnic Chinese travel agents in Toronto sucking up the capacity on the nonstop in anticipation of being able to book their regulars on the nonstop. This still happens in the industry, though controls are usually activated that could see this capacity released at a later date. So you might want to keep checking back to see if lower prices open up on the nonstop.
