I completed a stay here.
Sorry, I forgot to take pictures but the photos on the hotel website are accurate. Very nicely designed. Sort of art deco-inspired.
Hotel LeVeque, Autograph Collection opened a couple years ago. It's in a shared downtown tower; part of the building is residences and offices.
The entrance is confusing because there's no dedicated valet parking. Basically, you have to double park with cars parked on the street. No signage as to which way to go when you enter the lobby. No doorman or bellman. Just the valet attendant, who offered neither directions nor assistance with luggage.
Lobby is confusing, but the front desk is up a couple of stairs and way in the corner. There is a dedicated concierge desk, but it wasn't staffed when I was there.
Basic recognition at front desk. I was recognized as a platinum, not an ambassador. I did, however, see my printed check-in form on the front desk and it had "X5" handwritten on it in big bold letters.
No lounge. I was given a choice of 1,000 points or a $10 voucher. I had to politely ask about breakfast. I was then given a voucher, which is only good for $12 off anything on the menu, excluding tip and tax. The only problem? You can't get anything on the menu with coffee or juice or $12 or less. Most everything is between $9 and $15. When I complained about the breakfast not being compliant the front desk admitted other guests have complained and they offered to comp my breakfast. I politely declined and said I'd eat off-property.
I had a king-sized room on the 8th floor. Supposedly, all the rooms on the 9th and 10th floors were assigned.
I had asked about a suite upgrade two days prior when I checked in using the Marriott Bonvoy mobile application but the person responding to the chat said all the suites were booked but I might get one if I used a suite night award certificate. I found this interesting because if they were legitimately booked then how would my suite night award certificate clear?
Nevertheless, my king room was spacious. None of my standing requests (extra towels, feather pillows and extra feather pillows) were fulfilled. No complimentary bottled water. The coffeemaker was a Keurig, but it was tucked away in a closet with no electrical outlets. The closest had an umbrella and one bathrobe. No slippers. The room was advertised on Marriott.com as included turndown service at night, but no turndown service was ever provided.
The bar and restaurant is on the mezzanine level, which seemed like a major design flaw because a lobby bar would be awesome. It's a hipster kind of place with a big emphasis on alcohol. I had dinner here one night. The menu is decent, but a little too contrived. If you want something tried-and-true (steak, fish, Caesar salad) you're going to have to do a lot of customization.
All things considered, with some tweaking around the edges, better recognition and a compliant breakfast, this would be a very nice hotel.
