I am IHG Gold member, which I know isn't any impressive.
But is there any chance they may be able to waive my penalty out of goodwill? Just want to hear some DPs, and if anyone know whom I should ask?
Call them? Or I read some people talking about contact them by Twitter? (But I can't find their Twitter Message account.

I've had goodwill operate in my favour. The last time it was the UK reservation agent who pleaded my case directly with the hotel and got a positive result. But talking to a hotel reservation department has also yielded happiness.

If they've already taken payment the likely best option is changing the dates, so good to have some handy - but you might need to pay a supplement if the rate is higher for your new dates.

Clearly it's not something you can depend on, but certainly something you should try. Nothing ventured ...
