The same itinerary booked at AA.com prices at over $2000 USD.
So my question is, what is going to happen if I book the itinerary in HKD through what appears to be the Hong Kong locale AA website? My AAdvantage account and credit card are all US based if that matters.
Nothing, no issues, you are just booking through the AA HKG site. In a lot of cases like this the cheaper fare is only available with a departure (HKG) point of sale, hence you need to book it through the AA HKG site. Booking through the normal aa.com US site gives you a US point of sale, and higher fare evidently.
