Comfortwise, definitely. 8-abreast 787 (which is in itself more generous than the 9-abreast industry norm) beats 10-abreast 777 any day. Boarding is also less chaotic on JL’s 787s with the smaller Y cabins.
The downsides are the inferior IFE, and the much lower op-up chances if you’re a CX/OW elite.
