Can't do the 24-hour trick for same-day flights with most airlines. (AA is generous in allowing it when you book at least 2 days in advance, but still doesn't work for same day.)

You can of course buy the cheapest refundable ticket (who cares the cost so long as you have the available credit on a credit card)... but I wouldn't make a habit of that. Presumably airlines won't have reason to care if you're just doing it to shop at the duty free. But they would likely notice sooner or later if you were doing it to access that (or an affiliated) airline's lounge.
