BA First A380 dimensions of storage space at seat for carry on items
Usually I can find what want to know by scouring old threads, but I was hoping for a bit of clarification about storage for carry on items at the seat (window 2K currently selected) in BA First on the Airbus 380.
Due to a chronic medical condition, I have issues with my joints. Sometimes, I have trouble reaching overhead at all when my shoulders act up. (I'm also a short woman who found the bin unreachable without climbing up onto the seat in Swiss Business last year.) For those reasons plus ease of access, I prefer to stow my hand luggage at the seat/on the floor instead of in the overhead bins whenever possible. I travel light, and my usual Tom Bihn Western Flyer bag (soft travel pack) fits easily on most small regional jets or under the seat in a typical Economy cabin. (Dimensions: 17.9" x 12" x 7.1" / 455 x 305 x 180 mm)
I've found just a few photos online that seem to suggest the coat locker (a.k.a. "suitor") might possibly hold a bag and not just a jacket on a hanger. In at least one blog post, it looked like the interior space had a shelf and was holding a passenger's rucksack. If a pair of men's bulky shoes fit side by side in the bottom, I may well have room for my lightly packed bag.
I can pack using packing cubes to make quick work of stowing the entire bag's contents in a tall narrow space if necessary, and would prefer that bit of rearranging to having my things out of reach even if just for takeoff and landing.
I hope that a flight attendant would assist with stowing my bag overhead if such a plan appears hopeless in practice. On a recent flight on my usual airline where I typically know what to expect, I was moved against my will (to accommodate a family) from row 2 to the bulkhead and left in tears when the FA refused to assist me in stowing my lightweight tote bag overhead because "she is not a baggage handler." Another passenger intervened, but it was humiliating. I shouldn't be ashamed of having a medical condition, but I am much happier when I can attend to my own needs with dignity!
If anyone here knows the rough (or, better yet, ACTUAL) dimensions of the First Class personal closet at a window seat, I would be very grateful for the information.
