Wasn't there a CX deal yesterday from London to Hong Kong for £1500 return in J!? I would be looking for something like that or Ex-EU. Alternatively, the hop to Asia and then down makes perfect sense but you lose precious days if you are short on annual leave. I know I would much rather prefer an Ex-Eu fare with Qatar than J with BA all the way to Sydney
