Stayed at Bella Grace in January for 2 nights with wife, very mixed feelings. Physical plant is beautiful, room could easily belong in a nice hotel in Vegas, and having the fridge/mini kitchen was a cool touch for an otherwise boutique-style property.
Valet parking was quick and efficient, they have a little garage between the hotel's 2 buildings and they pack the cars in if needed, so it makes sense that it's valet-only.
Location was great for seeing a show at the music hall.
Unfortunately we had some weird service issues. When we checked in on day 1, we were told "social hour" was 5-6 p.m. and breakfast was 7-10 or whatever, in the building across the way. Social hour was great on day 1 - free wine, snacks like meat/cheese, etc. So good that we planned day 2 around social hour. Unfortunately there was no social hour on day 2. Whoever checked us in should have made it clear that social hour wasn't an every day thing (indeed, it turns out they had only occasionally done social hour). So that was a letdown.
At check-in we were also given a voucher for a free flatbread from the bar, to be redeemed 4-8 p.m. Nice. I asked whether it was one-time only or once per day, I was told once per day. Great. But then the attendant in the bar said it was one-time only. I ended up getting one each day but didn't like having to pull the "so-and-so said it was once per day" line, it was awkward and unnecessary.
Also had a glitch where housekeeping didn't come when promised.
All of that, fairly minor. What really peeves me is two things: first, the stay didn't post (no points or nights), and it took three attempts to get credit from Bonvoy because the hotel's invoice wasn't set up in a normal way (according to the Bonvoy agent -- they kept wanting to credit me only one night instead of two). Second, and more importantly, the day after checking out I got a random invoice in my email for $12 for "bottled water." Now, keep in mind there wasn't even any bottled water in the room that I could have taken had I wanted to, nor did I ask for any, buy any, receive any, or drink any. Never happened. But my Amex was charged $12. I called the hotel, left a message, didn't get a call back. I emailed the hotel to complain, didn't get a call back. It's only $12 but the principle of it combined with not even responding to me was worth fixing. So I filed a complaint with South Carolina, and that got them to issue the refund, but still not a word from the hotel in terms of an apology. So I won't be back, plenty of other places to stay.
