I think you have to spend $75K to get the pre-merger Marriott Plat => post-merger Titanium => United Silver. I actually got the RC card back in 2016 and spent $75K. Got Marriott Plat (pre-merger) in 2016 and got United Silver. Cancelled the card in 2017 after 12 months. I don't stay much at Marriott but somehow I still have Marriott Titanium and United Silver today. I thought I would have lost Marriott status back in March 2018, but I think the merger messed things up as I was also SPG Gold. I think my Titanium status will expire next year March? But I don't know how to check. So spent $75 on RC card in 2016 and got elite status until 2020 spring.. pretty good!
