I understand Boeing not wanting the planes grounded they are there to make profits, but the FAA is supposed to protect the flying public. I believe there is too much fraternization between the government agency and the industry that agency is supposed to oversee.

The US (FAA) is not showing themselves to be a world leader for passenger safety IMO.
I see it differently. If anything, Boeing should want the planes grounded if they thought there might be anything wrong. The last thing they need, and they know it as well as anyone, is for another accident to happen.
