I know for sure you will have to go through:
- A security screening in Manchester, as the UK always requires passengers who did not originate in the UK to undergo security re-screening for onward connections
- Schengen passport control/immigration checks upon arrival at CDG
- Customs at CDG, which is your final destination in the EU, but that's just a walk through a hallway so is basically a non-event/takes no time
What others will have to verify is:
- Whether you will have to go through UK passport control in Manchester. (If you do, that doesn't avoid Schengen passport control in Paris since there are border checks between the UK and France in all cases.) It seems from other posts on the forum that Manchester has airside connections so you can avoid a UK passport check, but that because it's largely an O&D airport it's not really set up that well, I can't speak from personal experience on this. Remember though that even if you avoid the UK passport control, you won't be able to avoid the UK security screening.
