I have an itinerary starting tomorrow, Wednesday, 3/13, IAD-ZRH and returning on Tuesday, 3/19. Both flights on on 764s and I chose seat 23D for both segments. Last night I received a text from United stating that there had been an equipment change and that my seating assignment had been changed.

When I went to check my new seat assignment, I was still on a 764 (UA52), but in seat 22D which is an exit row. My seat assignment on the return is on a 764 (UA53), still in my original selection of 23D, but the exit row is the usual row 28. I’m confused as to how on one 764 the exit rows are 21 & 22 and on another 764, the exit row is the expected row 28. I thought there was only one configuration for the 764s.

Anyone have an idea as to an explanation?
