I saw an article in the blog Turning Left for Less that suggested this routing and also suggested the routing to Perth. I didn't have time for the Perth route but wanted to go around the world as a TP run and so booked it.
I have 4 tickets...
LGW - AGP - positioning flight with BA, booked a cheap one-way in ET on BA.com but upgraded to CE when offered a sensible POUG. £140
AGP-HEL-DEL - special offer from Finnair, booked on AY web site direct in J, £810.
DEL-KUL-NRT/HND-JFK - special offer from Malaysian but booked through BA on the phone in J, £1037
JFK-LHR - Avios rewards flight in WTP, booked on BA.com
A couple of interesting things re my bookings...
- the DEL-JFK was booked through the BA phone line but all flights are on MH flight numbers, all flights on MH metal except HND-JFK which is on JL metal (JL6)
- When booking DEL-JFK I had to call several times before I found an agent willing/able to book in the right classes to give me the right price (selling class D)
- arranged to have an overnight stop between most tickets so stopping at AGP, DEL and NRT. No overnight at JFK but an 11hr connection so fingers crossed.
