The $200 airline credit isn't hard to use unless you don't try. Same with the $100 Saks credit. Its free money. People gripe because the AMEX credit isn't a flat $XXX credit on your statement like the $300 CSR travel credit is, but it can be just as powerful if you make an effort.
would like to add that Amex didn’t make changes to the airline credit, AA changed merchant coding on gift cards, therefore we are not able to use Amex travel credit on AA to purchase gift cards, still able to use it on AA seat upgrades, lounge memberships, bag fees, etc.
