Called KLM Platinum line … somebody just cancelled, and me and another person were in the queue for the seat. I guess my Lifetime Platinum status helped (or helped screw the other unfortunate soul).
Now, need to talk to Expedia for a possible refund! Any advice? 24-hour rule?

Expedia - if you booked on the US site it should be free (although possibly not given it is so close to departure). In any case check the fare rules which should list the cancellation fee. You might also call them and ask.
