Hmm. I have the opposite experience. For me airlines always ask for too much time for connection. When I get to the airport I find that I arrive at the next gate far too early. So I always try to grab a seat on an earlier flight. That works for me in the US normally, but in Europe on a cheap ticket they often won't let you take an earlier flight.

Maybe it's because I walk fast and carry only a shoulder bag?
