Sorry to hear your JFK misfortunes. Where are you transiting to- if in the US of course you will clear customs at first port of entry. I'm not sure where the "best case" of 30 minutes from the other poster came from- I find connecting in LHR to be wholly unpredictable and unreliable. I have at least four stories of missing long haul flights connecting at LHR- my "favorite" is connecting at LHR from ZRH en route to HKG on our honeymoon- friends had arranged for a Rolls to pick us up on arrival in HKG as a surprise- we missed the LHR connection (last BA HKG flight of the day) with almost 3 hours of advance arrival in LHR, and were then treated to the double delight of the LHR Renaissance for an unscheduled stay plus a red cab from HKIA to the Peninsula.
