Overall I find the connection experience at LHR pretty unpleasant and time-consuming. Figure on a bare minimum of 30 minutes by the time you walk from the gate, get to the bus, get off the bus and go through security.
When will you Yanks stop moaning ?, 30 minutes is unpleasant !, it takes longer than that to get my fingerprints and photograph at immigration in JFK, then I have to wait another 40 minutes to collect bags clear immigration and customs after completing 2 totally unecessary forms [ I am after all only transiting] , then another 30 minutes to change terminal, than another 30 minutes to clear security. Tolal time 2 hours 10 minutes and 6 lines. Against 30 minutes maximum and 2 lines and no self baggage check or customs or useless baggage declaration at LHR. Get a Life
