Sorry, if you buy a ticket within 24 hours of departure, you can NOT request upgrade if PZ=0.
Even if you bought ticket long time ago, you still can't put upgrade request within 24 hours to departure. It has to be before that.
So in these cases the gate agent processing upgrade is moot.
