Maybe, but the issue will be to persuade TK to rebook to another carrier. I'm quite sure that TK will try to make the OP take the next TK flight to IAH despite being in 2 days. But the fact that there is no TK flight the following day may make rebooking to other carriers easier; if there had been a flight the following day the OP could forget about rebooking to LH, UA etc..
Unfortunately, SK AAR is right. TK doesn't care about customer relations and would definitely rebook you to the next available direct IAH flight and provide a hotel at Istanbul. They won't pay the expenses or extra cost of the OP if he needs to be in Houston in that specific date. However, he can ask the transfer desk to be rerouted to JFK ( the evening flight ) if he needs to actually be in Houston that night. However, the option that I mention would make the OP buy a separate JFK-IAH ticket that TK won't pay. Unfortunately, %99.9 percent TK won't rebook you to another airline.
