The EU have been telling them for years to toe the line or face the consequences. Looks as if they haven't been cooperating. When they do leave OW, bad news for those who earn tier points but if the QR product is so good I'm sure those customers will be prepared to accept it and continue to fly with them. At least the QR/PC forum will gain through it.
