As many have mentioned here, the 89k for zone 4 (HKG) to zone 12 (US West coast) is 89k, if and only if it is a direct flight, no connections allowed. I believe the only SQ flight available at this redemption rate is HKG - SFO.

Otherwise, you can opt for HKG - SFO - LAX (with SFO - LAX on UA) for 105k miles
