so i'm trying to book an SQ award flight in business from HKG to LAX, one way, for early 2020.

when i try this on the website, it shows saver availability at 89k (which matches their redemption chart). after spending several sessions honing down my date of travel, availability etc., i got to the point where i wanted to actually make some waitlist reservations (which had better connection times) + one (less ideal itinerary-wise) real reservation.

i transferred over the miles, and then started with the redemption. to my horror/surprise, when i actually clicked on the dot for a particular itinerary, the SQ website pops up a window and there it states that i need 115k miles, and not 89k! (i tried this for several other itineraries and all had the same behavior.)

does this make sense to anybody? am i missing something that i should be doing? it seems like bait-and-switch but perhaps i don't do this often enough to know if this is not unusual (we did book SQ award flights from the US to Japan last year, so i'm not completely new to making an SQ booking).

any advice would be appreciated as to whether this is unusual, or whether i should call SQ etc.! (the "problem" is worse because i was trying to get 3 tickets, which is a lot of chase/amex points (for me) that are now stuck with SQ!)
