I respect that it's their national holiday, so "guest must remain within the hotel property."
But got me thinking: Has anyone ever been trapped in a hotel on Nyepi Day in Bali that can comment how that works?
Like, I wake up, go to breakfast (which is excellent at the HGI Bali, btw), and... hang out all day at the pool and room, doing nothing because you're not *supposed* to leave?

Or do you literally have security/police called if you try to (gasp) exit the hotel grounds?

Curious minds want to know how this holiday works. Or doesn't.

There are watchman who patrol the street, so you can't just go wandering around town and have to stay on the property. The hotels usually have workers who sleep over. Hotels will provide services etc,but the noise has to be kept down and some of the restaurants on the property may close early etc.
