This fare works going to other US destinations than EWR. I booked it BLR-SIN-SEA. If OP does regular India-USA travel, book originating India to SFO, return India. Lather-rinse-repeat. All that's needed to kick start it is a one way to India. Those J fares on SQ is about as close to "peanuts" as you're going to get. (You also get ~20,000 Alaska Airlines miles each way if you credit to that program, that's easily a few hundred dollars in future flights back, before any elite bonuses.)

OP: you can get all upset at the people who know better explaining to you "you're doing this all wrong, but there are ways of getting what you want", or you can use FlyerTalk as a resource to do it right. Up to you. Your miles are valuable, but if you're expecting EK-style cash upgrades, you're liable to be disappointed.
