I went back and checked the terms of the promotion:
- Earn 2,000 bonus points on all stays* of two or more nights and 1,000 bonus points per brand, starting with your second brand.
Notice it says "AND". I read that to mean the stays of only 2+ nights count toward the brand bonus.
