We fly from ORD to LHR 4-5 times a year, always connecting to somewhere, and have never walked between the terminals as JonNYC has done-- we may try it next time. BUT--- taking the bus and going through security can take as long as an hour. In three out of 4 trips through LHR this year, we have missed connections.
Part of this, of course, is due to the mess at ORD and all the late departures. If you don't have at least 2- 2 1/4 hrs connection time, I'd call AA and try to get an earlier flight out of ORD.
