Yes until the end of 2015 they offered platinium continously every year you held the shares. Then because too many people were buying 50 shares they downgraded the benefit to 1 gold for Just 1 year status only. Not surprising they ended it.
Another way they could have done this is set 2 bars 50 shares for the current gold 1 time offer and say 1000 shares or more for platinium membership. That would require an investment of 40,000 or 50,000 Euros which means people would not really buy for the membership but really because they want to invest.
