Happens with the bigger birds here occasionally--due to heat. As the air gets warmer the takeoff roll gets longer, when it reaches it's maximum length for our runway they have to shed weight to keep it legal. It makes for irate passengers when they are denied due to weather and there's not a cloud in the sky and their plane takes off anyway.
