I agree with you Prof that it is pretty complicated to go through all the rules to figure out what is really happening. I think that a lot of us are pretty seasoned travlers yet still have a hard time. Think about the others. That's why I think FT is such a great place to exchange information.

I was checking-in the other day at AA and I heard a person flying DFW-LGW on AA but was giving them his BA FF#. I was about to advise him that you don't get miles but the agent asked him to check with BA first.

baobab, thanks for the information. I asked my sister to put in her BA# so I will let you know if it works.

Nick, can you clarify what you mean? My understanding of fare basis is that the first character represents the class of travel? E.g. MONEW4 - is 'M' class of travel? Is that true?

Prof, what is the M cabin? Is that economy?
