I would argue that the area around StR is somewhat more peaceful than SGS as you're a little ways away from the main Sukhumvit strip and Rajadamri is more commercial/residential than anything else.
You're also closer to Lumpini Park which IMO is better for running than Lake Ratchada. That said, the convenience of the SGS location is pretty hard to beat.
