Wanted to post to talk about two polar opposite experiences at Marriott hotels in Charleston. I want to start with the good, the Hotel Bella Grace was an exceptional experience as we walked in the door. Incredible service despite us arriving early (taking bags, and offering to open the bar for a drink for us while we waited) and great recommendations from the staff and a fantastic upgrade. Constant checking in as we walked in/out to see how our stay was going. And the hotel was absolutely beautiful and breakfast was way above expectations.

Now the bad. After the Hotel Bella Grace, we moved to the Grand Bohemian, expecting to get to experience another great hotel (which upon walking in looked beautiful). The staff was pleasant upon check in, but that is as far as the good of the stay goes. We are in a second floor "courtyard" room which has to be one of the worst rooms in the hotel, which is fine because that is what was booked, but the design is absolutely awful. The courtyard is an art display sitting on turf with windows on 3 of the 4 sides looking into each others' rooms. We entered the room, decorated nicely enough, but with repulsive cleaning standards. We found a bottle of lubrication under our bed presumably from the last guests, with hair and snot on the shower walls. I would have thought this hotel would be on more of the luxury end of cleaning, not at a Fairfield Inn type level. The first morning we went out to exercise for 3 hours and came back to the room still not cleaned. Got ready to go out for day and asked the front desk if they could please have our room serviced (they said ASAP) and departed. Returned again, three hours later and no service. Called the front desk and asked if we went to the top floor bar to get a drink would they have our room serviced after all this waiting, and they said "immediately" and apologized. Came back down in an hour and a half and still no service. We finally called one more time, and they guaranteed it'd be done right away, so we went to sit in the lobby, 15 minutes later, it was finished (and by finished I mean sheets were strew back on the bed, towels were replaced, and no additional soap/shampoo/conditioner were given despite the others being in the trash). Also other dirty items still visible. Will be writing review elsewhere to ensure people avoid Behemiam at all costs!

Bottom line, Hotel Bella Grace was 5/5 stars and an incredible experience and start to our time in Charleston. The Grand Bohemian was disgusting, and I'd recommend any hotel in the area over this.
