If reading the OP correctly, the inter-island flight is from GUM and is UA operated.
The OP stated they were already in HNL, so not an Hawaii inter-island flight.
The OP is from an island other than Oahu, otherwise there's no hotel cost.
The OP is probably heading for a minor island not served by UA. Those small planes fly between a main island (served by UA) and an outer island less than once a week.
