FYI--I just helped my friend book a United Vacation Package for July from St. Louis to Madrid RT for $1,060. This rate includes air fare and 1 night hotel in Madrid. She will land in Madrid and immediately take a train to Leon and begin a 2-week walk on the Camino de Santiago (she is doing it without any travel agency assistance for her Camino). When she returns to Madrid after that, she'll stay in the Madrid hotel the night before her flight home. The best flight she could find was about $1,400 RT so she was able to save more than $300 and got a hotel night by using the Vacation Package program.
