Originally, I was going to PEK, but due to a new job, I've had to cut that part of my trip so as to not be gone for two full weeks. Anyway, I have a reservation both at the Narita Hilton and the Westin Tokyo. I have never been to Tokyo (been to Kyoto) and would like to see some of the city, even if it is just an evening walk. I am also aware that getting from NRT to downtown Tokyo is an ordeal with either a limo bus (not my scene), the Narita Express or a taxi (too expensive) followed by a local connection to the hotel (would probably take a taxi for this). In other words, going into Tokyo would be more expensive, but sitting in a hotel in Narita is not my idea of fun and is, to me, wasted money (especially since I need Starwood stays to requalify for Platinum).

Based on this, should I go into Tokyo or just stay at Narita?

Thanks!
Here's the deal:

I will be flying into JFK on a AA award ticket on October 31 and leaving the next day for LHR. My arrival time into JFK is around 3:30 p.m. (AA 001 from SFO) and my onward flight is at 4:15 p.m. the next day. Originally, I was going to YYZ, but due to a new job, I've had to cut that part of my trip so as to not be gone for two full weeks. Anyway, I have a reservation both at the Radisson JFK and the St. Regis in CP. I have never been to NY (been to Boston) and would like to see some of the city, even if it is just an evening walk. I am also aware that getting from JFK to Manhattan is an ordeal with either a Carey bus (not my scene), the subway or a taxi (too expensive) followed by a local connection to the hotel (would probably take a taxi for this). In other words, going into Mahattan would be more expensive, but sitting in a hotel in JFK is not my idea of fun and is, to me, wasted money (especially since I need Starwood stays to requalify for Platinum).

Based on this, should I go into Manhattan or just stay at JFK?

Based on this read, what would you do?
