A lot of the time spent by cabin crew is asking what the customer wants / confirming the order / taking payment - if that part of the interaction could be removed, then it would free up a lot more time for actually delivering food and drink.
BA could cap the total number of orders per flight if they chose - but I suspect they wouldn’t often need to.
i reckon cabin crew could double or triple the number of Economy pax serviced if requests were pre ordered and pre paid.
