I'm headed to Maui this summer with the family and was planning on burning some Marriott points I had saved up. I know Marriott has a points & cash option where you can pay for a portion of the nights in points and the other portion in cash but interestingly enough, the cash rates on the rooms in this option are higher than the advertised rates if you were just to book a room straight up with cash (not to mention that you wouldn't be able to take advantage of any deals like AAA deals). Anyways, not sure if there is a work around this, or if I would just need to book two separate stays and have the hotel combine the stays. Has anyone had any negative experiences with booking two separate stays, one with points and one with cash? I'm also thinking about using a free night certificate via a bonvoy credit card offer but I'm assuming I can just use that certificate in one of the points or cash stays I end up booking?
