This senior colleague doesn't sound like a boss, so you might not be forced to allow him to make all the decisions about travel arrangements.
Do you know why he's insisting on paying for both rooms? Did he think that it would be easier to make the reservation this way? Does he think he's doing you a favor by putting the charges on his credit card (or does he have a corporate card while you don't, which might get into your employer's travel policies)? Or does he want the points on your room too, perhaps even believing that he'll get double night credits too? In fact, is he even aware of FF and frequent sleeper programs?
