Do whatever makes you feel most comfortable. I usually take the opportunity to go and brush my teeth while they are making the bed for me.
And you might just go with the flow, depending on what happens on the day. If it's convenient for you to pop off to the loo when they're doing your bed, you can do that and stay out of their way. But if the timing doesn't work and you're there, you could just have a quick friendly chat with them while they're doing it.
It's much like the process of when to ask for your bed to be made up. If you want it done soon after takeoff and there's a natural point at which to drop this into the conversation at an early stage, perhaps even before departure, you could mention it. Or it's something you could say when the first drinks orders are taken, or when you're asked whether you want to eat. The request doesn't have to a big deal, and it certainly doesn't need to be made into a point of etiquette.
