Hello,

New member here. I've been a Spire Elite member since IHG decided to add that status some 5 years ago. I've noticed lately that it's damn near impossible to reserve top tier rooms at resorts/ club locations using points/rewards nights. I've tried every avenue from booking with the app to calling the individual locations i'm looking at directly. No matter what 4 day span I try to book I always get the same response " No rewards nights available." 4 years ago when the wife and I went to Grand Cayman for a week we ran into the same problem, but 1 phone call to IHG rewards and they said they would get us a room. Which they did, a wonderful 2 bedroom villa with a wrap around porch. Now whenever I talk to someone about it they treat me like i'm asking for their 1st born.

So what gives? Have they started tightening the screws down on Spire members trying to get villa level rooms? Is there something else I can do short of just booking something and hoping for an upgrade?
