Hope I can get some guidance here. I had booked an itinerary with a short (30 min) regional flight connecting to a long-haul. My upgrade to the long-haul cleared 24 hours before departure. Thereafter, the short-haul flight was cancelled, and before I could re
search other options AA involuntarily re-booked me on flights leaving an entire day later. This was unacceptable since I was traveling for work, and I was able to call and re-instate my original long-haul flight and get accomodated on a different short-haul.
However, even though only about 30 minutes elapsed between cancellation, involuntary automatic rebooking, and me rebooking by phone, the AAgent was not able to reinstate my previously cleared upgrade on the long-haul flight. This really bothers me because this flight is typically hard to upgrade with lowly Gold status, has a lie-flat product in F, and would have been very useful since I have to go to work right after landing. I am very disappointed that this upgrade was lost due to AA rebooking me without my consent to a completely different day, even though there were other options available for me to still make my original long-haul connection.
Is there any way to bring this to the attention of someone with actual authority to do anything? In 10 years I have gone from EXP to PLT all the way to mere Gold due to the consistent downgrades and devaluations since the merger, and to me this may be what causes me to give up on AA altogether.
