You are conflating Marriott International (MAR), Marriott Vacations Worldside (VAC) and Host Hotels (HST), three different companies.
MAR hardly owns any properties. It strives to be a hotel management company without owning any real estate. MAR is the company which manages Marriott hotels under various brands and uses Bonvoy as loyalty program. Marriott Vacations Worldwide (VAC) acquired ILG (Interval Leisure Group) which owns Hyatt Vacation Ownership, not HR Maui. HR Maui timeshare is part of HVO. To complicate it further, HR Maui Hotel is owned by Host Hotels (HST) which was Host Marriott but no longer part of Marriott. MAR, HST and VAC are separate publicly listed companies with separate management teams. HST is a REIT which owns numerous hotels managed by Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, Accor and independently.
To sum it up, HST owns HR Maui but gives management contract to Hyatt (H). It develops HR Maui timeshare and markets it under HVO which is now part of VAC. MAR is not involved in any of those projects.
This reminds me of people kept posting news of Starwood Capital Group in Starwood forum.

Starwood Capital, a private real estate investment firm, happened to own many hotels (e.g. Hôtel de Crillon) at one time, none of them were part of Starwood Hotels. Déjà vu.
