If it was the deceased, using the deceased's credit card, this would be an issue. You are not that person, so you cannot cancel the flight. What you will need to do is get a death certificate and demonstrate your power of attorney. Or get a probate court to dismiss the debt.
On Southwest, travel funds are only usable by the original passenger. It doesn't matter at all who bought the ticket. "Just canceling" would be a problem, since the named passenger is deceased.
Since, in this scenario, a manually processed refund upon presentation of the death certificate (Southwest still doesn't care whose card it was on) would go back to the original card, use of those funds would be limited to someone who can use that credit card, whether as an authorized user or joint property or estate control. Or just using it in any number of ways people use a spouse's credit card every day without issue.
If access to that card account is a problem, I suspect Southwest would be happy to issue the refund as a voucher.
