Don't underestimate the animus created. On my last two trips to Dubai I was challenged about the Qatar entry stamps in my passport, and asked to explain the reason for the visits. I think this was an initiative of the two agents involved rather than any official policy, and there were no repercussions: but, still, it was unsettling.
